Who We Are
Founded in 2017, Emerald Swan is the brainchild of actor David T. Cowell. The name is the combination of two things, his favourite colour; emerald green and the Black Swan the state bird for Western Australia where he is from.
Since being in Melbourne he has met a great bunch of people in the Film/TV industry and has been developing his skills as an Actor, Director, Writer & Producer. With the Emerald Swan brand, we aim to be able to create numerous projects of different genre's, categories and messages. Whether they be our own projects or a collaboration with another filmmakers project.
We also have usage of our very own studio, which can cater to many things from Self-tapes to Auditions to rehearsals or even workshops.
In 2020 Samantha Lauren Martin came on board as a fellow Producer following on from their collaboration with the film 'Silenced'.

PRODUCER
David moved to Melbourne from Perth in 2016 to train at The Australian Film & Television Academy (TAFTA) for the 20-week Full-time program. Emerald Swan had always been in the back of his mind with the Company coming to fruition in May 2017 as a film production company with the first production 'Aperture' - Also written by and starring David.
David was born in Perth and took up acting when he was 12 at the Helen O'Gradys Drama Academy.
David has always enjoyed acting. Culminating to his first feature film speaking role as the local Constable in 'Jasper Jones' "An experience I hope I will never forget". Having recently completed the TAFTA 20 week Full-Time Program he has a whole new perspective and approach to his craft. Since completing the course he embarked on his biggest project 'Aperture', A feature film written, produced and starring David. He is diversifying himself with a mixture of stage and screen. In the Joondalup Encore Theatre Societies production of 'Allo 'Allo, he was dedicated to changing his appearance to portray Officer Crabtree. He is also one of the hosts (Colin) of the mock film review web series "F'd Up Film Show".
In Perth, Attending Sacred Heart College, he was involved with several drama productions with the school (Earning him the Year 12 Subject Excellence in Drama award for 2008) and with the Helen O'Grady's Drama Academy. He has also received screen training with Loren Johnson, Fern Nicholson & Andy McPhee, with that, he is finding new ways to further develop his characters and interpretation of scripts. He is always passionate about creating unique and quirky characters and finding ways to use his voice and body to bring them to life.
David has done Stage Combat training with Andy Fraser & Tim Dashwood, completing the Basic Certification which includes Theatrical Swordplay & Unarmed Combat. He is also an avid squash player with a broad knowledge of the game and is an accredited referee as well as a self-described Aviation enthusiast.
Samantha Lauren Martin
PRODUCER
Sam is a passionately devoted actor who works both facets of the industry in creating her own work and working alongside other actors and directors. Sam has trained at Brave Studios, Howard Fine and has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts.
Most notably, Sam has starred as Candice in ‘A Meme Stole My Girlfriend’ in 2019's Fringe Festival. She has also featured as a supporting actor in the feature film, ‘Aperture’, and the short film, ‘Horizon: Sanguinary’. Currently, Sam is working as a co-writer, co-producer and lead actor for her short film ‘Silenced’. This film is in post-production.
Alongside her acting Sam is also a trained singer, in the styles of musical theatre and contemporary voice. Sam has previously worked in many different bands. She writes her own music and is now creating cover songs inspired by Triple J’s Like-A-Version – presenting covers in a unique way.
Sam is very excited and honoured to be a part of Emerald Swan growing as a film actor, writer and producer. BRING IT ON!!
